If I was GM (General Manager)of the Sabres, I would go out into free agency and pick some players up. These players would consist of Marrian Hossa, Hal Gill, and many more players to pick from. After that, I would sign every other Sabre on my team to a long contract who are worth keeping; some exceptions would be Peters, Afinogenov(if he doesnt start playing to his full potental and Thiboult). These players are good, and I do like them, but they just aren't showing it on the ice. I would also go into the traders market and find some good players to get for draft picks or some players we won't sign in the future. This is what I would do if I were GM of the Buffalo Sabres.
What would YOU do???

Awwwwwwwwwww man.
Well, the Pittsburgh Penguins were eliminated and lost the Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings. It was a hard fought game by both teams, but in the end, the better team won. it was a heart breaker to watch because of all the failed oppertunities by the Penguins and the final two minutes really were amazing. In the dying seconds of the game (5 secs.) Sydney Crosby backhanded one which got by the goalie which Marrian Hossa got to it and hit it across the goal line. It was a hard fought game, but the Penguins just couldn't get that tying goal. Anyways, the Penguins will have a great season next year due to there skill on the team. Their younger players will be amazing like Malkin and Crosby, and will have a good chance of redeeming them self to win the Stanley cup.

Alexander Ovechkin
Alexander Ovechkin is one of the best players there can ever be. His team, the Washington Capitals though, isn't the greatest. This year was there best season in many years, but since Ovechkin has arrived, he has brought offensive talent and big hitting to his team. He has had a great 3 seasons in the league scoring 163 goals, 147 assists, and 310 points. He is a offensive power house and will be for many seasons to come. The Capitals have always been one of the worst teams in the league before Ovechkin. They clinched th-e southeast division title this year, and went to the playoffs this year for the first time in a long time, but were eliminated by the Flyers. I am pretty sure that he will be a Hall Of Famer and will be one of the best players to ever strap up the skates and to hit the ice.
OVECHKIN IS BEAST!!!

The Pittsburgh Penguins
The Peguins will have a very good team in the off season and will have a extremly good team next year. Before the trade deadline, they picked up some players. They got Marrian Hossa from the Thrashers, a very good goal scorer and overall great player. He can make things happen on the ice and is a great assest for the teams. They also got Hal Gill from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gill is a very big defenceman with a hard slapshot, hard hits and smart play. He will bring alot of experience onto the blue line and will stop anyone who tries to get by him. In the offseason, these 2 players will be in free agency unless they sign them. It will be interesting
08-09 NHL Season
in the upcoming season, it will be interesting to see what happens. There is SOOOOO many good players in the league both vetrans and rookies. Patrick Kane on the Chicago Blackhawks will pose a serious threat to all opposition and may be one of the league point leaders. Ovechkin and Crosby will always be leaders on their teams and will produce in times of need. The Rookies will also be interesting. For teams like the Sabres, they will need more skill on both ends of the ice. They should be one of the better teams in the league next year due to new aquired players and players they got back from injury. There will be alot more talent for there team and therefore be more dangerous. Finnaly, there may be free agents that many teams will be going for. It is going to be one hectic season.
Thomas Vanek
Thomas Vanek is one of the better players on the Sabres. In the 06-07 he had 43 goals and 41 assists for 84 points, Though he hasn't showed it much in the 07-08 season, having 36 goals and 28 assists for a total of 64 points, he still can lead this team. He is still young on the Sabres team, along with most of the players on the team. He eventually will have the leadership abilities to become the captain or assistant captain. Vanek must first get himself together and be a great influence on this young team. He has to step it up and be the power forward he was in the 06-07 season. People like Pominville and Roy have found there place on the team by leaders, and Vanek could be the same but he still must find his inner hockey star and let it go. I won't be surprised if in a few years he wins the most points award or most goals award.
